An original summons to a Lodge of Emergency (a special meeting) to open and dedicate the new masonic temple in Ampthill.
The location of the “new” lodge temple was actually part of the White Hart Hotel in the centre of Ampthill that was specially adapted for Lodge use at a cost of around £200 (which in 2025 terms is around £16,600).
The Lodge rooms were consecrated by Lord Ampthill who at the same time unveiled the new Lodge banner and an emblematical painting that to this day sits behind the Senior Warden’s chair at the present day Ampthill Masonic Centre, just up the road in Church Street.
