Welcome to Bedfordshire Freemasons Ampthill Lodge 2490

Consecrated by Lord Ampthill in 1894, Ampthill Lodge No. 2490 has met in the town of Ampthill ever since. The lodge now meets at the Old Court House Church Street.

May I on behalf of the Worshipful Master, Past Masters, Wardens and Officers of the lodge extend fraternal greetings and our warmest welcome to our website. We have added information and photographs which we hope will be of interest to those who might wish to know more.

What is Freemasonry?

Freemasonry teaches moral lessons and self-knowledge through participation in a progression of allegorical two-part plays, which can be learnt by heart and performed within each lodge.

How to join

One of the most common misconceptions about Freemasonry – and there are many of them – is that you have to be invited to join. There is absolutely no reason why you should not ask to join – in fact that is the correct procedure
