Here you will see the certificate presented to the Ampthill Lodge 2490, on its Centenary year in 1994. It is proudly displayed at each lodge meeting as a reminder to the members of the rich history of the Lodge of which they are part
It grants permission to the members of the Ampthill Lodge to wear a specially designed jewel or medal marking the occasion, many of these jewels are still worn at Lodge meetings to this day.
To the Worshipful Master, Wardens and other officers and members of the Ampthill Lodge No. 2490 and all others whom it may concern
Whereas it appears by the records of the Grand Lodge that on the 12th day of October 1893 a Warrant of Constitution was granted to certain Brethren therein named authorising and empowering them and their regular successors to hold a Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons at The White Hart Hotel, Ampthill, Bedfordshire under the title or denomination of the Ampthill Lodge numbered 2490 on the Register of the United Grand Lodge of England. And whereas the said Lodge now meets at The Ampthill Masonic Centre, Church Street, Ampthill in the Province of Bedfordshire.
And whereas satisfactory proof has been provided of the uninterrupted existence of the said Lodge for one hundred years dating from the 22nd day of June 1894
And whereas the Brethren composing the said Lodge desire to be permitted to wear a commemorative jewel and have prayed our sanction for that purpose
Now know that we having taking the petition into our consideration have heeded to their request and in virtue of our prerogative do hereby give and grant to all and each of the subscribing members of the said lodge being Master Masons permission to wear in all our Masonic meetings suspended to the left breast by a sky blue ribbon not exceeding one inch and a half in breadth a jewel of medal of the pattern illustrated herein as a centenary jewel
But such jewel shall be worn only by those brethren who are bone fide subscribing members of the said Lodge and for so long only as they shall pay the stipulated subscription to the funds thereof and be duly returned as such to the United Grand Lodge of England
Given at London this 22nd day of June AD 1994
By command of the Most Worshipful Grand Master
His Royal Highness, the Duke of Kent
