In January 2025, a small but enthusiastic delegation from Ampthill Lodge No. 2490 joined by Ian Church, Assistant Provincial Secretary, and Paul Smith, Assistant Communications Officer, embarked on an unforgettable journey to Coimbatore, Southern India, to visit Lodge Ampthill No. 3682 EC, in the Madras UGLE Masonic District.
This exciting trip had been in the works for quite some time, with Ben making the initial contact and Ian ensuring all the right protocols were in place while coordinating with Sampath, the Lodge Secretary. The team enjoyed an action-packed ten days, the highlight of course being the Lodge Ampthill Installation meeting. They visited several Masonic centers, attended a colorful wedding celebration, enjoyed a refreshing tea at the Redhills Plantation, and explored ancient temples. They even spent the night at the Ooty Colonial Club which is widely recognised as the birthplace of snooker, and dined at the Paragon restaurant in Calicut, Kerala.
The visitors were thrilled to play an active role in the installation ceremony, with Ian and Ben delivering stirring addresses to the Wardens and Brethren. But the fun didn’t stop there—at the Festive Board, the group made history by welcoming the new Master with the Masters Song, marking a first for Lodge Ampthill.
This extraordinary trip offered a once-in-a-lifetime experience filled with new friendships, rich cultural exchanges, and unforgettable moments—a truly amazing adventure!
